Tim Ferry World Cup Gear set
In 2002 the Motocross des Nations was set to take place in Hemet California. Unfortunately, a series of events occurred that led to the event being canceled only one week prior to its running.
Cancelling such a prestigious event would have left an indelible stain on the reputation of the US motocross history. Faced with that reality, a small group of industry insiders set out to find a new venue, sponsors, riders, and everything.
What was born out of that disaster was one of the greatest organic professional motocross races of all time. It was boldly named "The World Cup of Motocross" and was held at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. It was an event that was never repeated. One and done as they say, which only enhanced the aura of this amazing race.
While Team USA was not the same roster as originally scheduled for the MXdN, they were favored going into race day. Team USA comprised Tim Ferry (gear set above), Kyle Lewis and Sean Hamblin. They rode gallantly but not quite well enough to best Chad Reed and Team Australia.
The World Cup of Motocross is a day in the sport that will never be equaled but you do have a chance to own a piece of that epic event. Here is Tim Ferry's signed, race-worn gear made for this momentous event.
